Contractors: social media increasing in business

Holding business and social events online is becoming increasingly common practise, according to experts.
This could be good news for freelancers, who may find it more convenient to carrying out business and optimise networking opportunities online.
Nathan MacDonald, managing partner of We Are Social said: "There are regular examples of people using social media to field interview questions instead of having to call in, and with conferences people are willing to transfer the real-world conference into social media, by asking people on Twitter to field questions."
This comes after creative agency the blur Group announced they would be holding their office Christmas party via Twitter and donating the money saved to charity.
The party will link its 8,000 employees worldwide and offering a virtual DJ and cocktails to partygoers as well as a virtual photocopier, should revellers feel the need to use one.
