Contractors 'must protect networks from trojans'

IT contractors need to do more to help protect against a trojan invasion, according to a browser security services company.
Of the ten most prevalent malware threats in March, seven were trojans, while the most common one currently accounts for 31.07 per cent of all global malware infections, IT security company Sunbelt Software claims in its latest report.
Security professionals must therefore make sure that there are trojan containment products covering every point of entry to the network, according to Amit Klein, the chief technology officer for browser security makers Trusteer.
While protecting the network itself, IT contractors must also ensure that individual users are not affected, Mr Klein adds.
"I would make sure that users are not affected by financial malware, by providing them with browser security products and also try to prevent phishing attacks," he said.
Figures released by Trusteer last month indicated that banking fraud cost £78.9 million in the last quarter, with almost all reported cases being down to malware.
