Contractors 'must be aware of cybercrime'

While contractors working in many industries are aware of how much cybercrime costs them, many sectors are struggling to deal with the issue, experts have said.
David Blackwell of intelligence experts Detica said that while sectors that value intellectual property tend to be knowledgeable about cybersecurity, those outside those industries are finding it more difficult.
He explained that because many sectors are not yet aware of the problem, they could be having a lot of data stolen.
"I certainly know that the government has the intention to better understand the picture and the collaboration with industry will hopefully give [these sectors] a better picture of what's going on."
Meanwhile, a report by independent technology analyst Ovum found that despite the fact that cyber espionage is a major threat to enterprises, it has been largely overlooked, leaving businesses vulnerable to such attacks.
