Contractors in finance 'see hike in job offers'

Contractors in the financial services sector have seen a significant rise in job offers, experts have reported.
Research by pre-employment screening firm Powerchex found a seven per cent rise in the number of confirmed job offers within the financial sector.
Additionally, from January to February, the number of confirmed appointments for IT contractors in the sector rose by three per cent.
Alexandra Kelly, founder of the company, said: "We are also seeing some stabilisation in the number of confirmed appointments made to IT contractors working within FS, after an 80 per cent drop in January. While this is good news for those looking for contracting opportunities, things have a way to go to recover in this area."
An increase in contracting vacancies will be welcome news after experts said that contractors and other professionals are working later into their lives.
According to Rachel Krys from Inclusive Employers, the decline of final salary pension schemes along with the increasing price tag of higher education means that people need to work for much longer than they have in the past.
