Contractor demand 'increased across disciplines'
Contractor demand has increased across all the major disciplines, new research has shown.

The Monster Employment Index for February has shown that contracting demand across sectors such as construction, engineering and IT grew.

Engineering demand increased by 15 per cent between January and February and online demand for those in IT rose from 103 to 113 points.

Additionally, UK online recruitment was found to have reached a two year high in all areas.

Isabelle Ratinaud, Monster UK & Ireland spokesperson said: "It is a significant milestone to see recruitment at its highest level since December 2008 and trends indicate a positive outlook for most UK industries."

Meanwhile, according to one expert, people are increasingly realising the advantages that flexible working can provide.

Shirley Borrett, development director at the Telework Association, said that benefits such as desk-sharing, hot-desking and the resultant real estate savings all mean that employers are fast coming round to the idea.
