Contracting demand 'increased again'
Contracting demand rose for the 17th month in a row in December 2010, according to a report.

The Recruitment and Employment Confederation along with KPMG found that growth in vacancies for contractors is now at a six-month peak.

Additionally, the report showed that although growth in permanent placements slowed slightly, it remained solid and that permanent salaries were increasing at a faster rate.

"The latest data suggests again that the UK job market is on the road to recovery as growth of permanent placements remained solid and demand for staff rose strongly," said Bernard Brown, partner and head of business services at KPMG.

Meanwhile, job site Career Builder said that the UK employment outlook is positive, meaning that contractors should be optimistic about the upcoming year.

The group's Europe, Middle East and Africa president Tony Roy said that the technology sector is likely to experience a particular boom which is great news for IT contractors.
