Coalition 'showing promise' after 100 days

After 100 days of the coalition government, conditions do look more positive for IT contractors and the rest of the UK workforce.
This is the view of the Recruitment and Employment Confederation's (REC) chief executive Kevin Green, who claims that some good decisions have been made by ministers.
Announcements which will see IR35 tax legislation repealed - to the delight of most IT contractors - and general bureaucracy and red tape reduced are very good signs, Mr Green says, but now they must be backed up with action.
In addition, there is no question what the most pressing issue is for the government.
Mr Green explained: "There are question marks over whether the private sector can absorb expected job losses in the public sector.
"Getting this right is one of the main tests for the coalition government."
The REC's latest Report on Jobs indicates that the UK jobs market is set to remain flat for some time, following public sector cuts.
