Cloud computing is set to transform the way businesses use their IT, one expert claims, which will have a significant impact for IT contractors.

Recent research published by the London School of Economics found that UK executives are becoming more receptive to the concept of cloud computing - more so than those in the IT industry.

Reacting to this news, the National Computing Centre head of marketing Michael Dean said that this may be down to the fact that business executives are looking at cost savings, while IT people are more aware of the drawbacks.

However, he goes on to say that many companies have shown an interest in adopting cloud computing systems, yet doubts about security now mean that many firms are unwilling to take the plunge.

"There is a lot of hype around cloud computing, and it certainly is going to transform the way that IT is provisioned in organisations, without a shadow of a doubt," he said.
