Cloud computing 'can improve data security'
Over half of companies believe that moving their data storage to cloud computing services will give their corporate information greater protection, according to a new survey.

The organisers of the upcoming infrastructure event, 360-degree IT conducted a poll of 271 IT managers, with a quarter thinking that such a move would leave their data less secure.

Industry expert Richard Hall, chief executive of Cloud Origin, claims that after more than 20 years spent investigating security breaches, the majority were down to internal systems or process failures.

Therefore, companies using a specialist cloud providers with its extensive security systems will certainly see security benefits, while simultaneously keeping the data away from their operations staff who may accidentally cause a breach.

Server revenue for the private cloud computing market is expected to grow from $7.3 billion (£4.9 billion) in 2009 to $11.8 billion (£7.9 billion) in 2014, according to research conducted by the International Data Corporation.
