IT contractors and freelancers in the technology sector could see more jobs available to them in future, if comments by BSC, the Chartered Institute for IT are correct.

Andy Doyle, account management and sales director at the institute, said "forward-thinking" organisations are increasingly investing in people and making sure their human resources are the best they can be.

"That's investment that shouldn't be overlooked over and above hardware and software and other assets," he added.

According to survey results published earlier this month by the IT executive's magazine CIO, just 35 per cent of leaders in the IT sector plan to increase their budgets on full-time workers - which may mean more opportunities for non-permanent employees like freelancers.

More than half of the 250 IT leaders polled planned to increase budgets over the coming year, while just 16 per cent were planning to scale back on their spending.ADNFCR-2994-ID-800092505-ADNFCR
