BT network change 'could benefit IT contractors'
The opening of BT's network to other companies is good news for IT contractors, as it could lead to a faster roll-out of new technologies.

Chris Marling, editor of BroadbandGenie.co.uk, has asserted that this will result in a number of advances that could benefit those working with computers.

He stated: "The opening up of BT's pipes to its rivals could only be good for consumers, encouraging swifter technological advancement."

Companies will first notice increases in speed and then price, which could mean smaller firms can benefit from bringing in IT contractors.

Fibre technologies could be developed more quickly as a result of this, as areas not considered financially worthy for BT could be seen as lucrative by other companies.

It laid out a government commitment to provide two Mbps broadband to the whole country by 2012.ADNFCR-2994-ID-19606579-ADNFCR
