Bosses 'planning to hire more contractors'

Employers are planning to increase their temporary staffing and hiring of contractors, according to the latest JobsOutlook report by the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC).
For the third month, confidence has risen among employers to the highest point since April 2010, with firms preparing to grow their workforce.
The report found that one in four employers is planning on extra agency workers within the next three months. In addition, one in three report that they will hire contractors over the coming year.
Additionally, 17 per cent are looking to increase their permanent workforce during the next three months and 24 per cent of companies planning on doing so in the space of a year.
Roger Tweedy, the REC’s director of research, said: "The latest feedback confirms that employers see temporary staffing as the most cost-effective way of building flexibility into their workforce while the economic climate remains volatile."
