500,000 new contracting vacancies 'in next 5 years'
IT contractors look set to benefit from upcoming IT sector growth in the UK, which is predicted to boom in the UK over the next ten years.

The next five years will see 500,000 new permanent and contract posts created in the country, according to findings by e-skills UK in its Technology Insights 2011 report.

It was also found that if the full potential of technology was exploited to its full extent, the UK economy could see a boost of £50 billon over the next five to seven years.

In addition, the report revealed that one in every 20 people working in the UK is currently employed in the IT and Telecoms industry.

Meanwhile, the Recruitment and Employment Confederation along with KPMG has found that the number of UK contracting vacancies has increased for the 17th month in a row.

In addition, although growth in permanent places has slowed slightly, it has remained stable and permanent salaries are now increasing at a quicker pace.
