2011 'will see strong demand for contractors'
IT and engineering contractors will enter 2010 with a strong demand for their services, according to experts.

The Reed Job Index reports that although the index fell in December compared to the month before, demand was almost at a 12-month peak for IT, engineering, marketing, media and consulting.

According to contractorcalculator.co.uk, managing director of reed.co.uk, Martin Warnes is feeling positive about the outlook for contractors in the coming year.

"The jobs economy has undoubtedly avoided a much-predicted double-dip in 2010 and the private sector continues to lead a steady recovery in new job demand," he said.

This comes after John Brazier, managing director of PCG said that the nature of contracting and freelancer's ability to adapt to the changing needs of their clients will help contractors thrive in 2011.

He said that of all the sectors in UK industry, the "skilled, resourceful and flexible" contractors is best prepared to deal with the challenges of the coming year.
